|OuB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Mr C. Hunter (manager of the Grey Valley Collieries, Ltd.) delivered an interesting and instructive lecture ’o a large attendance of mining students at the Ruiianga School of Mines, last evening, choosing for his subject the kenetic of gases. He explained the origin of the various gas laws, dealing particularly with the law of defusion and molecular velocity. For illustration of the working of these principles, he showed various gases under the conditions met with in mining, and explained by means of the gas laws the behaviour of mixtures of various gases. At the conclusion of the lecture, Mr Kelly moved a vote of thanks to Mr Hunter, and this was carried by acclamation.
