An increase of 1.2 per cent in the average of wholesale prices in June, is revealed in the Board of Trade index number of statistics. Decreases were shown in each of the three preceding months.

KILLED BY ALSATIANS.
CALCUTTA, July 12
Simla reports state that a pack of eighty Alsatian dogs, bred by the ruler of an Indian Central State, attacked and devoured the ruler’s cousin. The dogs left of him only a few bones. The ruler has been obliged to pay handsome compensation to the family of deceased. The attack occurred when the deceased, during his stay at the ruler’s palace, went for a stroll at night, and was set upon by the dogs.
