FIGHTING ’FLU
HINTS FOR PREVENTION. “Ids-odlv-a-godd-in-by-dose,” is the expression of the day. With the change of the season comes that, unromantic, lingering thing, the cold, and while it is hard to cure it. is sometimes easy to prevent. According to a physician regular meals, regular sleep, a clean nose and a happy mind are the best safeguards against ’flu and influenza colds. Those who live in towns and cities and have to breathe smoke-laden ah should always breathe through the nose. This acts as a filter. But even a filter will get choked up if it is not kept clean, and once the nose is choked, breathing has to be done through the mouth. The mouth is not well adapted to protect the lungs, taking in unwarmed or unfiltered air, so infection and irritating particles are carried to these organs. To keep the nasal passages clean, sniff a. little salty water (not too strong) up your nostrils.
