LATVIAN UNREST
MARTIAL LAW PROCLAIMED. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. May 17, 8 a.m.) RIGA, May 16. Martial law has been proclaimed in Latvia. Parliament has been suspended and buildings occupied by troops. The Government announces it is informed that extremists are planning an armed coup d’etat. Parliament is incapable of dealing with economic distress. The constitution will be reformed while parliament is suspended. Several Socialist leaders have been arrested.
