The annual meeting of shareholders of Sun Newspapers Ltd was held today, Mr H. D. Acland, Chairman of Directors presiding.

The Chairman, moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, said that while the trading account had improved by £1231, as compared with the previous year, the advertising revenue, owing to unfavourable business conditions prevailing, had not recovered materially, with result that, the earnings were just about, sufficient to maintain the paper at its accustomed standing, leaving little or no surplus for distribution. The outlook for the future was hopeful. There were indications of steady expansion in tho volume of advertising. The Company’s assets were entirely unencumbered, and the plant and machinery were in good order. Messrs J. J. Dougall and David Jones were elected directors, and Messrs Best and Wilkinson as auditors.
