ENTERTAINMENTS
OPERA HOUSE, TO-NIGHT.
Laiighter loud and long should, certainly be heard at the Opera House to-night and Tuesday, when “It’s a King” is to be screened. This is the funniest Sydney Howard film yet. The were written by talented English mirth-provokers and the humour, though crazy, is hilariously comic. The story concerns the adventures of Albert King, insurance agent, due for his holiday, who decides to visit the Continent. “It’s a King” is entertainment everyone can enjoy, it is jolly good fun all the time. Sydney is an admirable actor, and invests absurdities with appealing humour. CARTER THE GREAT. There was a fair attendance at the Town Hall on Saturday evening, when Carter the Great made his second and last appearance of his present season in Greymouth. Miss Evelyn Maxwell, billed as a psychic marvel, gave a mystifying exhibition of thoughtreading. All the stunts and tricks were well put over, and provided an enjoyable entertainment. GRAND DANCE REVUE. Loyers of dancing are assured of an excellent evening’s entertainment at the Town Hall on Thursday night, when the West Coast School of Dancing, of which Mis's Dorothy Thwaites is Principal, will present a magnificently spectacular Dance Revue, something more ambitious than any » previous display of dancing seen locally. Sixty artists are taking part, including Miss Mona Hannan, who will be seen with chorus, in a specialty comedy number entitled “Dancing 'in Your Sleep,” the Heenan sisters of Hokitika, by special request, and also' Kathleen Thomson and Melva Moss. The extensive programme opens with a very enchanting scene, "The Fountain of Youth,” with a full chorus of dancing girls. “The Raindrop,” “Red, White and Blue,” and “Hello, Gorgeous.” The programme will be interspersed with vocal solos, which are being entrusted to popular artists, including Mr Harold Prescott’s pupils. The orchestra will be under Miss Molly Clayton’s direction, and the lighting in the hands of Mr Tom Clarke. The box plan is now open at Kilgour’s Warehouse.
