REEFTON, March 17.
At the annual meeting of the Reefton Golf Club, last evening, about twenty members attended. The election of officers for the coming season resulted: —President: E. W. Spencer; VicePresident: J. B. Auld; Secretary and Treasurer: T. L. Floyd; Captain: G. E. Hubbard; Vice-Captain: W. GorePorter; Committee: Mesrs. A. McKenzie, Fennell and W. Blom. The following new members were proposed: — Mr. and Mrs. Fennell, Mr. and Mrs. Yellowlees, E. Downey, Rev. W. Bell, Misses J. Archer and J. O’Brien. The opening day was arranged for March 18, when a mixed foursome will be played, members to arrange for their own partners. Dr. R. A. Marshall left today on a short holiday. Dr. Paul Fogarty, of Greymouth, who has returned recently from Edinburgh, will take charge of the hospital during Dr. Marshall’s absence.
Mr. F. Sutton was appointed dog tax collector for the Inangahua County from four applicants. Mrs. afrid Miss Revell, of Kaipoi, are the guests of Mrs. Stallard. A fancy dress party was held in Wesley Sunday School last evening. The children spent an enjoyable time playing games and particularly in competitions.
A meeting of the Reefton Aero Club (Inc.) was held in the Council Chambers last evening. There was a fair attendance. Mr. I. Patterson was elected to the chair. The Chairman stated that the Aero Club was now incorporated, and briefly explained the rules. An apology for absence was received from Dr. Marshall. The following officers were elected: — Patron: Dr. R. A. Marshall; President: Mr. J. Patterson; Vice-Presid-ents: Messrs. W. J. Barry, J. A. Noble, J. McElwee senr.; Hon. Auditor: T. H. Lee jnr.; Hon. Treasurer: Mr A. Gilbert; Executive Committee: Messrs J. Muir, E. Downey, T. Baird, W. Hughes, H. L. Robinson. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr. C. Nevin was appointed hon. secretary.
