COSTER BALL .
Wellington, March 16. Holding that it was merely a coincidence that the plaintiff included the Coster Ball in the suggested scheme for the Wellington City Mission’s annual fair, and that his contract was not associated with the organisation of the ball, Mr Stillwell, S.M., decided for the defendant in a reserved judgment regarding a claim made by Edwin Dennis for £6l/16/11 from the mission as 5 pei’ cent of the proceeds. NATIVE AFFAIRS. WELLINGTON, March 16. Its duty being to enquire into and report upon the administration of the Departments of Government concerned with the administration of Native Affairs, the Native Affairs Commission held its first sitting at Wellington to-day. After the commission ot appointment had been read, the Chairman, Mr Justice Smith, made a statement outlining the Commission s views upon the task before it, and the Commission adjourned until April 10.
CHILLED BEEF. MASTERTON, March 16. A third experimental shipment of chilled beef by Borthwick and Sons has taken definite shape, and' the killing operations are lender way at Waingawa works. The consignment will consist of 1200 hinduarters, and will leave Wellington next Saturday by the Port dhalmers. While the shipment was experimental, Mr P. Borthwick said, they were slowly departing from that stage and were approaching a point where the shipment of chilled beef from the Dominion could be regarded as a commercial proposition.
