S. AFRICAN MYSTERY (by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. Jan. 6, 8 a.m.). CAPETOWN, January 5. A Johannesburg!! message stated that Rev. Br. Hattingh, M.P for Kurgerszorp, deputy Chairman of the Committees in the Union Parliament, was murdered while driving a car near Langaagre. His assailant was a fellow passenger, Saul Patz, a Lithuanian, who, while the car was stationary, went to the rear, drew a revolver and fired two shots, killing Hattingh instantly. Patz afterwards committed suicide bv shooting. The affair was witnessed by several persons. The motive for the crime is unexplained.
