SECOND DAY’S RESULTS CLOUDY RANGE WINS CUP For the concluding day of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s Summer meeting, the weather is fine, following heavy rain over-night. The track was in fair order for the first race, and is drying fast. There is another large attendance, and fields are of good size. The Greymouth Municipal Band is in attendance. Results up to the time of the “Star” going to press, were: —
WESTLAND HANDICAP, of £lOO (3.45 class). One mile and a-half:

Phoenix was first out, followed by Peter Parrish. Travis Pringle and Red Flyer. At the halfmile Phoenix showed the way to Travis Pringle, Peter Parrish, Bide-a-Wee and Blandford. There was no change at the mile, but going down the back the last time Bide-a-Wee went into third place. Phoenix was in front at the bottom of the straight, from Bide-a-Wee, Peter Parrish and Blandford. In a .spirited finish, Peter Parrish won by half a length from Bide-a-Wee, who was closely followed by Phoenix. Then came Blandford and Fearless. Tote—Win £377, Place £352. Tiny Guy was fourth. Winner trained by owner, Ashburton. All started. Chudleigh was first out from Prince Harvester, Tiny Guy and Kotinga, Billy Sundy, Worthy Star and Wahnooka did not go away. Tasman Flight did not do the last round. At the half mile Chudleigh led Kotinga, Isabel Patch, Tiny Guy and Prince Harvester. There was no change at the mile. Going down the back Chudleigh, who had been going evenly throughout was a length in front of Kotinga, who was also doing it well. These two led into the straight, and Kotinga got to within three-quarters of a t length of Chudleigh but could do no better, in a good finish although well back Pnnce Harvester beat Tiny Guy for thud nlace by a head, the latter breaking near the post. Worthy Star was fourth The .others would not not settle’down. Tote. Win £387. Place £395.

Goldworthy was fourth. Winner trained by C. Davey, Halswell. All started. Dawn Sonoma was first out, followed by Wild Bingen, Lena Thorpe and’ Stowaway. At the halfmile the order was Wild Bingen, Dawn Sonoma, Yankeeland and Clem Dawe. Going down the back Yankeeland went to the front, followed by Clem Dawe and Wild Bingen. That was the order into the .straight. In the run home Yankeeland wjon easily from College Boy, who came fast from the ruck. Clem Dawe was well back in third place, followed closely by Goldworthy, Stowaway and Oro’s Pride. Tote: Win £523, Place £5221.

Pronto Bingen was first to show out, from Lord Leslie, Cloudy Range and Waress. Going down the back Waress made the pace At the ■ half-mile Cloudy Range and Waress were racing in front together. Then came Worthv King, Lord Leslie and Wilbur White. Worthy King i made a fast run going down the back, I but could not head the leaders. At
the mile, Cloudy Range and Waress were still in front, from Wilbur White and Manoeuvre. The latter made a fast run, but went out wide at the turn from the straight. Down the back the third time, Worthy King drifted back, and the field underwent quick changes and the order at the mile and a-half was Cloudy Range, Pronto Bingen, Wilbur White, Lord Leslie afld Waress. Cloudy Range opened up-a big break going down the back the final time, from Pronto Bingen and Wilbur White who were stopping. Waress also was finished with. Cloudy Range had. a lead of ten lengths into the straight, followed by Lord Leslie, Arabond and Wilbur White. The winner was never troubled in what may be described as a muddling race. Lord Leslie neld off Arabond, with Manoeuvre fourth, then Wilbur White. .
The presentation of the trophy, a ( canteen of cutlery, attached to the { stake, was made by Mr. J. O’Brien, ( M.P., who congratulated Mr. McDer- , mott on his success, saying Mr. Me- ■ Dermott was one of the most popular figures connected with the light harness sport. Mr. Olßrien also referred to the fact that the race was run. in record time, the previous best being held by last year’s winner Manoeuvre, who ran the distance in 4.38 1-5. Going down the back, BinJgen Palm raced on the outside to take the lead two furlongs from hpme. He i was not troubled in the straight, and ■ I won easing up.
