INSANE NEGRO
SHOOTS AT RIVER-SURVEYORS. [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. December 20, 2.30 p.m.) LOUISIANNA, December 19. Six members of a Government engineering party were shot and wounded, some serioqsly, from aw ambush yesterday by a negro assailant, formerly an inmate of an insane asylum, who was subsequently killed on resisting arrest. The negro crouched in a swamp and opened fire on the surveyors as they were passing in a boat along the river.
