MONASTERY IN TIBET. LONDON, October 17. Three St. Bernard monks, vho sailed from Marseilles in January tor Tibet io establish a monastery am travellers’ refuge al „ al,it J‘, dc . ol 14 000 feel, have reached Si-la lass, a height, ci 13,000 feet, on the border ol China and Tibet, after suffering hardships for two months, due to the intense cold. The monks were warned of the. danger of roving brigands, but the latter were so impressed by tiie medical “miracle" of the monks tha they granted them saie-conduc everywhere. . Immediately upon arrival ait tne scene of their future labours, the monks built a temporary hospital, and now treat hundreds ol Tibetans, Indians. and Chinese. They have used 20 cases of medicine in six months.
