A lantern lecture was delivered in Wesley Hall on Friday night by Rev. Mr. Scriven, general secretary of the Foreign Missions of the Methodist Church of N.Z. on the Mission work of the church in the Solomon Islands. There was a. fair attendance. Mr. A. Parkinson of the local Railway Station staff has been transfer led to Otira and leaves for his new station early. Messrs C. W. and N. Haldane were the successful tenderers for the alterations and additions to Andrews bridge subject to confirmation by the Public Works Department. Rev. Geo. Budd who is Superintendent of Home Missions works for the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, is visiting Reefton. and on Sunday conducted the services at Knox Church. It was Young People’s Day and hymns appropriate to the occasion were sung and special addresses were given. Reefton experienced a miserable week-end. Snow has fallen in high country and Saturday was a cold showery day. On Sunday very heavy showers fell and in the morning two heavy showers of hail further added to the discomfort of people moving out of doors. All week end sports had to be postponed.
