REEFTON NOTES
[ovi: OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, August 12. A basketball and football team representing Reeftou Catholic school, visited Westport on Thursday. The weather was miserable, but an enjoyable time was spent by both teams who were hospitably entertained by West port residents. At basket ball against St. Mary’s Convent, the local team lost, scores being 11 —4, but scored a win by 3 points in a match against St. Mary’s College team. They wore defeated by St. Canice’s team by 13—6.
At football, the visiting team was beaten, scores being 15—12. The game had to be abandoned before time was up owing to heavy rain and the state of the ground. Since Monday Reeftou has experienced a. spell of bad weather and on Thursday the night was particularly wild. Snow fell in high country and on Friday morning the hills at the back of Blackball were covered. The Paparoa and Victoria ranges are carrying a heavy coating of snow. Mr. Jas. Paterson, who is an inmate of the Reefton Hospital, is making good progress towards recovery.
