WOMAN’S EXTRAVAGANCE

£50,000 SOON SPENT. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT.] SYDNEY, July 30. After two years, some light is thrown on the mystery relating to the financial affairs of Mrs Ahnee Belle Edols. She is at present confined to the Debtors Prison for refusing information concerning a large sum, allegedly from a property in Victoria. Accounts have now been fixed with the Official Receiver. These show that not less than £56,000 was received by Mrs Edols between the years 1926 and 1931, and that all the money was spent during that period. Some of the items are as follows: — Betting losses £17,000; entertaining at golf clubs £2000; florists £400; dresses £4000: jewellers £500; theatre parties £2000; taxis £1250; living expenses £40,000. Nearly half of her receipts, of over £27,000, came from her husband, who now is himself a bankrupt.
