DANCE CLUB RAIDED

POLICE SEIZE LIQUOR. [PF.B PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, July 30. Armed with a search warrant issued under the Licensing Act a party of police raided Rodney’s Dance Club, a populai’ rendezvous, early this morning, and seized a considerable quantity of liquor, which was later removed in a Black Maria. The raiding party comprised SeniorSergeant D. Scott and Sergeant C. R. Duke in charge of three constables. All were in plain clothes. Shortly after midnight on Saturday night they called at the Club, which is conducted by Mr and Mrs Rodney Pankhurst, and is situated in a no-license area, and they proceeded to carry out a search for liquor. Dancing was in progress when the police arrived. There were about 20 couples present. The police did not take any names, and no arrests were made.
