WRESTLING
VARGA DEFEATS BLAKE. [FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH, July 16. Varga, 14.8, beat “Whiskers” Blake, 15.0, in an uninspiring wrestling bout, by two falls to one. Varga adopted a policy of masterly inactivity, defying the more active Blake to shift him, but he emerged twice to do a little damage with head-locks. Because of Varga’s solidity it was the most unexciting bout seen at New Plymouth for many years. There was a lot of wrestling, however, and almost no showmanship.
