Devereux, Australian wool representative, reports that wool prices afe keeping very firm in all centres and that substantial advances are expected at the opening sales on July 4. Only a moderate quantity of Merino wool is available. The Bradford market is buoyant. Some topmakers have withdrawn their Merino quotations, pending the London opening, and others are asking higher rates. Prices have hardened in all sections, including the whole range of crossbreds. ARAHURA STOCK SALE The entry at Arahura’s fixture comprised 29 fat lambs, 77 fat sheep and 52 fat cattle, which were offered at auction by AV. Jeffries and Co., to a goodly number of buyers. Competition was irregular for both sheep and cattle, and it is evident that some butchers failed to realise that prices in sympathy with other markets are on the up-grade. The range of prices was on a par with last sale at these yards. Some pens passed at the opening of the sale, were later in the day sold privately. The following sales were made: — For Mrs J. Butler 13 ewes at 16/-; for F. Butler 16 ewes at 13/3; for M. Purcell 1 lamb at 14/-, 25 ewes at 9/6; for A. O.
