The Government deficit for the financial year just closed was £4,127,748, compared with a deficit at the end of 1931-32 of £14,227,844 Since the Stevens Ministry took office there have been a heavy remission’ in taxation, and a large reduction in freights and fares, The defieri; in the Budgetary position is now more than ten million pounds better than when Mr Lang left office. Revenue totalled £46,088,085 and the expenditure £50,215,833. , In Queensland, the expenditure exceeded revenue by £1,554,444 In Western Australia, the deficit was £864,081.
