FAR EAST PIRACY

NATIVE REPORT CONFIRMED. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] DARIAN, July 2. Official despatches confirm the vernacular cables, stating that five Germans pirated a Chinese steamer between Tangyku and Shanghai, killing 12 on board, including the captain and officers. They were planning to proceed to America, but they stranded the steamer close to Darian on Saturday morning. The police arrested three after a desperate struggle, and began tracking the two others.

CHINESE TAUNT. SHANGHAI, July 3. The other two men concerned in the steamer Shenghan tragedy have been arrested. All five of the men concerned formerly held good positions at Shanghai. The affair has shocked the foreign section here, and the Chinese press declares that their nationals are not the only bandits in this part of the world.
