PRISON PLOT

Dartmoor convicts, who were transferred since the mutiny there, are believed to have been behind a plot at Newport (Isle of Wight) gaol, - which might have resulted in the release of fifty prisoners. The gaol officials, as the result, of a hint from a prisoner, discovered a rope ladder, files, hammers, iron bars and ring ladders. The ringleaders are stated to -have admitted that they intended to fire the gaol and then scale the walls.
