RAINFALL FOR JUNE. During the month of June ended yesterday rain fell on . 1 n 3 _. days , at Greymouth, for a total of 3.79 inches, with a maximum fall for any one -dry of 103 on June 25. In June, 1932, ram fell on 18 days, for a total of 9.15, inches, with a maximum for any one day of one inch on June 23. During the six months ended yesterday, 47.77 inches of rain fell on 102 days, in comparison with 41.26 inches during the corresponding period of 1932, and 50.91 in 1931. VITAL STATISTICS. The vital statistics for Greymouth for the month of June, 1933, were as follow (the figures for June, 1932, being shown in parentheses): JJirths 7 (5), deaths 13 (5), marriage notices issued 6 (7), marriages conducted’ by Registrar 1 (2). ' The half-yearly return, as compared with last year, was: Births 129 (131); deaths 68 (58); marriage notices issued 17 (40); marriages conducted by Registrar 8 (6).

CUSTOMS REVENUE. Customs revenue collected at Greymouth during June totalled £2,130 18/6 in comparison with £1426/17/4 during June, 1932, and £1822/6/7 in 1931 The amount collected under all headings totalled £6194/6/7, as compared with £lBl7/12/6 in June last year. Sales tax amounted to £1135 7/10, making a total of £3809/5/- collected by this tax so far. Revenue collected during the six months of this year amounted to £12,825/8/6, as compared with £9,093 3/3 during the similar period last year, and £10,771/12/8 in 1931.

DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, June 30. Customs returns for the month of June were: —Customs —June, 1933, £44,991; June, 1932, £41,997; beer, £13,842 —£13,740; petrol £10,530 — £10,594; tyres £627 —£344; sales tax £17,678 (1932 nil). Returns for the June quarter were: Customs (1933) £134,763, (1932) £125,923; beer £46,168— £54,112; petrol £38,207 —£35,583; tyres £2261 — £2035; sales tax £53,116 (1932 nil). Statistics for the month of June in 1932 and in the present year show that there has been an increase of 24 in the number of births, a decrease of 12 in the number of deaths, and an increase of one in the marriage figures. The quarterly statistics reveal decreases in all three sections. The official monthly figures are ag follow (1932 figures given in parentheses) :— Births 100 (124), deaths 88 (100), marriages 55 (54). The quarterly figures were: Births 219 (377), deaths--218 (246), marriages 151 (162). WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, June 30. The Customs revenue collected at Wellington in June was £148,706, compared with £56,940 in June, 1932. For the past six months-- the revenue was £926,021, as compared with £1,0351615 in tho corresponding period of last year. Motor spirits yielded £28,606, at sixpence per gallon, compared with £29,261 and £19,071 at fourpence last year, which included net customs revenue. The tyre tax yielded £1,613, compared with £1,406. The beer excise collections were £3,314, compared with £3,606. Sales tax in June totalled £45,434' The total sales tax so far collected in Wellington is £160,402.
