Yorkshire, which is easily leading in the County championship, failed for the first time to secure the maximum points, when it had to be content with a first innings win against Warwick. ■Walters (Worcester) is the first to roach a thousand runs for the season. Hampshire, first, 337 (Arnold 75); second 211 (O’Connor 4 for 32). Essex, first, 274 (Eastman 93, Boyes 6 for 91); second 6 for 277 (O’Connor 115). Essex won by four wickets.
