[OUE OWN CORRESPONDENT.) REEFTON, April 3. Mr J. Hewison was taken to Inangahua Hospital at a late hour on Saturday, suffering from acute appendicitis. He is doing as well as can be expected. The boiler for the Murray Creek gold mine was transferred to the mine from the Reefton Railway Station on Friday afternoon by Messrs Fahey Bros., of Kumara. As the load weighed seven tons and the job was accomplished in five hours, the contractors are to be commended on their work. The road' to the battery is not easy to negotiate, on account of its curves. An Inangahua representative ladies’ cricket team, comprising Mesdames Blom, Eklund, McCaffrey and Misses Kearns, Brooks, E. Evans, K. Evans, Anderson, Lewis, White and Thom, with Miss J. Collins as 12th member, met a Cobden cricket team on Sunday on the Reefton Racecourse. After a well-contested game the visitors proved winners by four runs. Sunday School anniversary services in connection with Wesley Church Sunday School were held yesterday. The Rev. C. Duncan conducted all services and preached sermons appropriate to the occasion. A speciallyaugmented children’s choir had charge of the musical portion of the services. In the afternoon, the prizes for the cradle roll were distributed. The prizes for senior scholars will be presented this evening at a gatheringin the Sunday School.
