CRICKET
WEST COAST ASSOCIATION. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Cricket Association, held on Saturday, Mr J. Paterson presided, Messrs H. S. Nightingale, W. Barlow, P. Thompson, D. McKay, N. Bayley, A. Ogilvie, and N. C. Bourn (secretary), being also present. A protest from the Kamaka Club against the Association’s action in declaring Brunner as winners of the B. Division, was not upheld, on the motion of the chairman. Mr M. C. Ward, of Christchurch, wrote stating that he intended bringing a team of Canterbury cricketers to play in Greymouth during Easter. — It was resolved that, as the season had closed, the Association could not entertain the visit. The Runanga Club claimed three points, on the forfeit of Kamaka Club, on March 26. The Secretary was instructed to obtain full particulars from Kamaka Club. The secretary explained that “the Press had declared the Runanga team winners of the Rose Cup (Saturday senior competition) but that, of course, was unofficial.” Cobden were the winners', with Runanga runners-up. Marist were declared winners of the third grade competition, with Cobden the runners-up. The Feary Cup competition was discussed at length, and after hearing the explanation of the Fixtures Committee their action in declaring the Marist v. Runanga match as the Feary Cup final, was endorsed. The secretary said that the senior Sunday competition would not be finalised until the Cobden B. v. Star match had been played. Should the game not be played the team with the least number of losses would be declared winners, that side to meet the winners of the Hokitika Sub-Association competition at Hokitika. ( The secretary informed the meeting that he would in all probability be away for the winter months, and considered that his resignation should be accepted. Owing to the season being nearly finished no action was taken.
FEARY CUP COMPETITION. Owing to the match not being played between Marist and Runanga, for the Feary Cup yesterday, the winners will be declared by the West Coast Association at- the final meeting. In all probability the method provided for in the Association rules will be followed, namely, the team with the fewest losses will be declared wipners. This also will apply to the senior Sunday Wingham Cup competition. MARIST THIRDS V. REST. On Saturday, the only match played was that between Marist and The Rest, in the third grade. The Rest scored 106 for seven (Rowe 35, Neaubauer 30 not out) at the drawing of stumps. This match will be continued next Saturday.
