COURSING

HAMILTON PRINCE WINS STAKE Under favourable weather conditions, the Ikamatua and West Coast Coursing Club held its first meeting for 1933, at Ikamatua, on Saturday. Sixteen dogs competed, and the coursing was witnessed by a large attendance of the public. The open stake was won by Master D. McLennan’s dog, Hamilton Prince, a son of Achieved Hamilton and White Veil. Mr. R. J. Waring’s consistent performer, Cowl, was runner-up. The hares were in splendid condition, and the dogs were successful in catching only a few. The detailed results were as follow:— FIRST ROUND Mr. W. Downe’s Silver Light, Glpts beat Mr. J. Griffen’s f.b. Bonnie Vale 45pts. Master D. McLennan’s Hamilton Prince, 3, beat Mrs M. Flynn's b.b. Black Meg, nil. Mr. W. Farrell’S Smart Fashion, 3, beat Mr. Jas. Foster’s White Nose, 1. Mr. A. Leggoe’s Spring Dale, 4, beat Master G. O’Malley’s Win Soon 2. | Mr. R. Waring’s f.d. Cowl, 25, beat: Mr. J. Green’s Peaceful Mac, 2. Mr. J. Green’s b.d. Likelihood, Gh, beat Mr. W. Steel’s Molly Morn, 4. This was an exceedingly lively course. Mr. W. Steel’s Scotty, 45, beat Mr. T. Moyle’s Our Nancy, nib The winner did all the work cleverly. Mr. D. Doolan’s Happy Land, 65, beat Mr. M. Fisher’s Prospecting Queen, 6. This was the best course of the day. SECOND ROUND Hamilton Prince, 6, beat Spring Light 3, in an exciting course. Spring Dale, 55, beat Smart Fashion 4. Cowl, 35, beat Likelihood, 1. Happy Land, 6, beat Scotty, 2. Happy Land coursed splendidly. THIRD ROUND Hamilton Prince, 4, beat Silver’ Dale 55. A fine course. Happy Land and Cowl first ran an undecided course, then Cowl won by five points to one in the run-off. Cowl returned to the slips lame. Hamilton Prince met Cowl in the final and won by three points to one. Two private matches were also decided. Mr. G. Mclnroe’s Blue and White, 3, beat Mr. T. Moyle’s Glenroy, 1, and Mr. M. Fisher’s Prospecting Queen, 4, beat Mr. J. Green’s Peaceful Mac, 3.
