• [our own correspondent.] The annual meeting of the Blackball Caledonian Society was held in the Oddfellow’s Hall on Friday evening also the opening Ingleside of the season. Mr R. Clark, chairman, spoke of the activities of the Society during the year, and the increased membership which now totalled 15b. It was decided to conduct the Ingleside under the same conditions as last year. Following are the officers elected for the ensuing year: Chief, Mr R. Clark; Chieftains, Mrs W. Harding, Mrs W. Cochrane, Messrs Anderson, Docherty, Ritchie; Secretary, D. Cochrane; Treasurer, W. McVicar; Committee: W. Brown, J. Kermode, G. Reynolds J. McNicol and W. Lowry; Auditors: R. Clark, D. Cameron; Pianist, Miss J. McNicol; M.C.. W. McVicar. After the routine business was dispensed of dancing was indulged in. The annual meeting of the Biackball Silver Band was held in the Band Room yesterday, Mr John Nuttall presiding over a large attendance. In presenting the annual balance-sheet and report, the chairman reviewed the year’s work, and detailed the work done by the band, also the establishing of a new band room and the increase in the number of playing meinbers. The balance-sheet showed a net profit of £6 1/1. It was decided that a letter of appreciation be forwarded to Mr J. G. Quinn for the interest he had taken in the band and for his assistance in the establishing ot (lie band room, also to Mr George Nuttall for services rendered. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term: Patron, Mr J. Quinn; President, Mrs Campbell; Chairman, Mr J. Nuttall; Secretary, Mr M. C. Flaherty; Treasurer, A. Mason; Trustees, T. E. Waters and A. Riddiford; Vice-Presi-dents: E. Dumpleton, D. McVicar, D. McGregor, A. Robertson, G. Toombs, J. Haisty, G. Bransfield, A. Dowling, R. Colquliuon, A. C’Donnell, P. James, S. Foster, J. Bishop, A. McLuskie, A. McKenzie. J. Tennent. G. Paul, J. Becker, J. Satori, T. Cranksbaw, A. Behan.

The annual meeting of the Blackball Soccer Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr R. Nelson presiding. After a long discussion it was decided not to conduct a senior team this year, but to enter a junior team in the competition. Following are the officers elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr R. Nelson: Vice-President, L. Docherty; Treasurer. James Anderson; Committee: IT. Hogg, F. Caldwell, W. Frickleton, W. Balderstone, Carson, and W. Lowry. The annual meeting of the Blackball Rugby Football Club was held yesterday morning. Mr H. Quinn (Chairman) presided over a good attendance of members. The following officers were elected: Patron. Mrs H. J. Campbell: President, Dr. F. O. Bonnett; Vice-Presidents: Messrs J. G. Quinn, S. B. Foster, J. Bishop, L. Mori, W. Balderstone, T. Learmont, J. Leonard, T. Sneddon, A. McKenzie, A. continue to carry on its good work. Votes of appreciation to Mr F. Smith for his services as manager and to the retiring officers were passed. The annual subscription was fixed at 5/per member. It was decided to enter a junior team in the Rugby Union Competition. The appointment of a delegate to the West Coast Rugby Union was left, in the hands of the secretary. Mr and Mrs A. Riddiford, who have been on a visit to Geraldine, returned home on Saturday. Mr A. Saraty, who has been a resident of Blackball for a. number of years, has left for Greymouth, where he will reside. Master Ken Craig, who underwent an operation at the Grey River Hospital. is progressing satisfactorily.
