MEETINGS TO COME. April 3.-—Te Kuiti. April 5, 6.—Pahiatua. April 6, B.—Whangarei. April 8. —Otautau. April 8, 10.—Westport. Red Flush: Is steadily improving, and should soon lose his maiden status. He is galloping well at Woodville. Aston: This Irish-bred gelding will be very hard to head off in the races he contests at Pahiatua next week. Vandyke: Has made a good recovery from the injury he received on a hurdle race at Waipa meeting last December. He is again in work at Ellerslie. Landlubber: This horse is reported to be in great condition, and he may soon make amends for his failures at the Ohinemuri meeting. King Mestor: This juvenile won two races at the Thames meeting, and displays decided promise," but he is still growing, and may not be seen at his best till next season.

'Ys 3 making good progress after her recent mishap. She will be spelled through the winter.

Catalogue: Is a two-year-old who is showing improvement with the advance of the season. His third to Lady Nan and Bay Tree at Awapuni, was a good effort. Taneriri: Has been in regular work for some time. He figures best in soft going, and he should be well forward by the time the winter meetings come along. Same Weight: Ramo, with 7.5 has the same weight in the Great Autumn as he carried to victory a year ago. Anxious For Rain: All the Riccarton trainers are hoping for rain. A. S. Ellis’s hope is chiefly on behalf of Aladdin, who is in great heart, but he cannot be schooled until the ground becomes softer. Unlucky: Rothen, a stablemate of Hurlingham ran four seconds at Oamaru and Waimate meetings. He was narrowly beaten on each occasion. Silver Scorn’s Opposition: Forfeits for the Auckland three-year-old classics at Easter leave vdry moderate opposition to the crack filly Silver Scorn, especially if Gold Trail does not run., It looks to be just a matter of health, for Silver Scorn to add both stakes to her record. Back to Work:, r ' Helen Gold, Mr. M. O’Brien’s three-year-old filly by Paper Money from Bonny Helen, has rejoined R. W. King’s team aftei" a three months’ spell. The sahib trainer will shortly recommission Silver Ring, who has also had 'a beneficial spell. Not Race Again: Morepork and Grouse will not be trained again, the former having failed to show the necessary form, and the two-year-old Grouse, ’ being badly affected in the wind. Both will be utilised in future, as hacks at Sir Charles Clifford’s station. Karapoti: W. Cook, a prominent Australian jockey, who lately returned from, a season in India, expressed the opinion that Karapoti is the best milei- in the Land of the Rajahs. That would not be unlikely if the Auckland-bred gelding has regained his top form. When he defeated Hunting Cry, Toxeuma, Nightmarch, and Cylinder in the King’s Plate at Auckland, he registered 1.36 2-5, and three Derby winners behind him.

Spoon: Jarred a joint some time ago, and she was sore as a result of her race on the first day at Oamaru last week. She was not started on Saturday. Her condition was unchanged on Wednesday, when she was given light exercise on the lead. Provided she throws off the trouble, she will be seen to advantage- in the Great Easter Handicap. / Consistent Takakua:

Takakua has been a very consistent performer lately, eight istarts having produced five wins, two seconds, and a third. There is no doubt that Takakua would have reached better company before this had he not met with an accident at the last Grand National meeting, but he is now well on the way to good and improved form. GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB. YESTERDAY’S MEETING At a special meeting of the Committee of the Greymouth Jockey Club, held yesterday, Mr. T. E. Coates presided, Messrs A. Beban, H. J. Bignell, G. R. Harker, Kim Williams, W. H. Parfitt, W. Gieseking, and M. J. Fogarty (secretary) being also present. Following a discussion, it was resolved that the offer of Mr. H. D. James, to conduct a win and place totalisator at the Easter meeting, be accepted, subject to him furnishing the Committee with particulars, of outside costs connected with the working of the machines. The Committee further decided that in the meantime, it could not see its way to enter into a contract with Mr. James for any lengthy term. It was decided that tenders be called for the conducting of the tea rooms, at the Easter meeting. The matter of deciding where the second totalisator will be placed, was left to Messrs Bignell and James. On the suggestion of Mr. Parfitt it was resolved to place, next to each horse’s name on the totalisators, the position of the horse at the barrier.
