WELLINGTON. March 12

Tim Rille Champion Belt, gold medal uml gold badge of the National Rille Association, and the King’s Prize of ,f:’.(), wore won at Trentharn on Saß urday by 11. V. Croxton, of the Karori Rifie Club, with an aggregate score 569 out of u possible 61’5. Croxton received all the customary honours accorded to the King’s Prize man. He was cheered, "chaired” and carried from the range shoulder high by his club mates to receive, for the second time in his life, the coveted King’s. His previous championship success was in 1920.

A strong right wind blew across the range. The correction required in ranging was from twelve to sixteen minutes of angle. AVith his final ten rounds Croxton put on 46 to 'win'by a margin of one point. H. Simmonds (Auckland), who made 45 was runner up with an aggregate of 568. C. J Nix (Featherston), who occupied sev enth place in the King’s Forty, moved up to third place as the result of a 49 at the final range.

AV. M. Masefield (Blenheim) Avas fourth with 564. The next live positions were filled by E. S. King (Wanga nui) 562, D. F. Keir (Ashburton) 561, E. M. Wrigley (Opaki) 561, F. J. Feune (Gisborne) 559, C. Whiteman (Upper Hutt) 559. Croxton’s win was very popular. He has attended seventeen New Zealand National Riffe meetings, and on thirteen occasions has obtained a place in the final.

The Grand Aggregate for the highest aggregate scores in the service and be t matches, except the final ten shot, v. as won by Simmonds, who'received Hie Collins Challenge Cup and N.R.A. gold medal. E. M. AVrigley (Opaki) was second, and H. L. Mason (Christchurch) third.

GREY DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. The final competition for the President’s Trophy was concluded on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for Rifleman. J. Prendergast with a grand total of 289. Rifleman T.
