The ex-champions now fill the thfe four places in the contesl. for the King’s Prize as a. result cfc to-iL J shooting at the annual meetm o of the National Rille Association at iientham. H. Simonds (Auckland), ana H V. Croxton (Karori) are at Jne head of the King’s forty, each with a score of 523 out of a possible 555. Vv. Masefield (Blenheim) is fin third nlace with 521, and E. S. King (Wan ganui) occupies fourth position with a score of 518. No fault could be found with the conditions. A , . , In the early morning, the Aucklanc. match (ton rounds at 800 and 900 yards) produced nine possibles. The former range match was won by r. Bowes (Auckland) with 98. J. (Kaiapoi) was second, and L. H. M arburton (Petone) third. In spite of tricky conditions in the afternoon ihe marksmanship was high, and two matches were, decided, the Match and the WTiitcombe and Caldwell Match, each consisting of ten rounds at 900 yards. They produced some fine shooting. C. J. Nix (Featherston) won the Otago Match with the possible. In the Whitcombe and Caldwell Match, R. C. Barkle (Petone) and L. G. Benton (Featherston) registered possibles, the shootoff favouring Benton, who collected first prize for the highest scores in the various combinations of individual matches. .. A number of aggregate prize 1-SiS were awarded and with the completion of to-day’s shooting, the compilation of most, of these was possmie. 'The Australian aggregate for the highest aggregate scores in the Canterbury Match, Wellington Match and -Auckland Match, was won by I. Bowes (Auckland) with 241 out of a possible 250.
