LATE ARCHBISHOP WRIGHT

SYDNEY'S TRIBUTE OF RESPECT

[By CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYEIGHT.]

SYDNEY, March 8.

The funeral of Archbishop Wright to-day, was attended by a large representative assemblage of people both in the cathedral and at the graveside at South Head cemetery. The cathedral was full to overflowing, thousands thronging adjacent streets. The service was most impressive. Among those present were the State Governor, a representative of the Federal Government, members of the State Government, and leading members of official, professional, and commercial circles, while high Church Dignitaries from the other States participated. The service was simple, but impressive beyond expression. The address in the cathedral was given by Archbishop Sharp of Brisbane, who delivered a striking panegyric on the dead Prelate as a Churchman, as a friend and a man. Seldom has a more impressive seen© been witnessed than that presented in the city streets through which a long procession wound its way to South Head. Footpaths were lined for several miles with thousands of bareheaded men, while women in many cases sobbed as the hearsO passed, followed by several floats bearing a wealth of floral tributes. The final service at the graveside was conducted by the Dean of Sydney and Coadjutor Bishop Kirkby.
