BROTHERS’ DISPUTE

MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. MANCHESTER, November 30. Following the reading of a statement made by the accused, the charge of murder against Samuel Yeomans (57), of West Gorton, was reduced to one of manslaughter here to-day, and he was committed for trial, bail being granted. Yeomans was accused of having caused the death of his brother, Albert Yeomans (65), of Levenshulme. Mr John Heyes, prosecuting, said that for some years Yeomans had been under the impression that his brother had not dealt fairly with him in connection with the administration ot the estates of his father and mother. Mr Heyes then read the statement, which said: r . “For the last sixteen years I have been pleading with my brother to give me and my sisters our rights, as I knew he had been cheating us ... I decided to try and prove this, so I got copies of my" father’s and mothers wills from Somerset House and went to see our Albert. .... . . “I opened the documents out and said' to him: ‘There’s your father’s and your mother's will.’ and he;said; ‘I don’t want to see any will. My father never left no will,’ so with that I hit him, and we had a rough and tumble. “After that I showed him the wills and said, ‘I have the proof here, and I’m going to stop here until I get my rights.’ . : <'• “He said, ‘Put ’em on the fire first,' so I said. ‘All right. I’ve trusted thee before, but I’d give you one. more chance,’ and I put ’em on the;fire. “He went upstairs, and came back and gave me £2, so I said,/This is not my rights,’ and I hit him again with my hand, but after I hit him and before he went upstairs I doctored him up a bit.”
