SWIMMING

I GREY CLUB MEETING Mr. K. Griffen presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Greymouth Amateur Swimming Club held last evening. The annual report, as previously published in the “Star” and the balance sheet, were read and adopted.

The election of officers resulted: — Patron: Dr. W. McKay (re-elected); President: Mr. K. Griffen (re-elected). J Vice-Presidents: Messrs J. O’Brien, M.P., E. McDonnell, G. Walters and H. Rattray. Secretary: Mr. R. Bunt. Treasurer: Mr. J. W, Bruce (re-elect-ed). Committee: Misses M. Nelson and L. Galbraith, and Messrs J. Woollett A. Sloss and B. Casey. Club Captain: W. Payne. Vice-Captain: A. Lane Club Delegates: Messrs Griffen and Bunt. Teams Selection Committee: Messrs W. Davies, J. Woollett and R. Bunt. Starter and Handicapper: Mr. W. Gieseking. Assistant Starter: Mr. F. Costello. Subscriptions were fixed the same as last year, 2/6 senior and 1/- junior. It was decided that a novelty carnival be held about a fortnight after the opening of the Municipal Bath. The delegates were instructed to bring before the Centre, the matter of teaching children to swim. The Westport Club were accorded a vote of thanks for presenting to the Club, trophies won by their members at the John Burns Cup Carnival.
