HOKITIKA, September 20. The annual meeting of the mem

bers of the Lake Kanieri Boat Club was held last night, Mr W. J. Radford presiding over a good attendance. The .secretary' (Mr Robilliard) read the report and balance sheet which showed a satisfactory financial position. One

new member was elected. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron: Dr Teichelmann; President, Mr H. M. Coulson, (Mr Radford could not be prevailed

upon to accept office for the fourth term); Vice-Presidents: Messrs W. J Radford and F. Andrews; Commodore. Mr. C. Hart; Secretary, Mr M. RobilHard; Assistant Secretary, Mr' W. E Richards; Committee, the President, Secretary, and Messrs R. McMillan and C. Hart. On the motion of Mr Coulson, a hearty vote of appreciation was

passed to Mr Radford for the valuable work done for the Club during his three years as President. Mr Radford duly acknowledged the expression. Mr Radford then, presented the trophies won during last season. The Teichelmann Cup to Mr R. McMillan; the Me. Tntosh Cup and also the Tulloch Cup to Mr F. Andrews. Mr Radford ex-

pressed pleasure in presenting tip cups, and wished the winners furthe? success. It was resolved that Labour Day

(October 24), be the opening day, and that an effort be made to have the South Island Championship raced o j Lake Kanieri. There was the sound of revelry at

“Garston,” the residence of Mr and Mrs. H. W. R. Sweney last night, when a large number of young people met to celebrate the coming of age of Miss Myrtle Sweney. Games, dancing and music passed a pleasant evening. Miss Sweney was the recipient of many gifts.

Tho Hokitika Municipal Band visaed the Mental Hospital last evening,

and provided the music for an “Old Time” dance. The pleasure displayc 1 by the patients left no doubt as to the enjoyment they obtained from th > visit. The staff provided supper.
