KUMARA NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The annual ball, in aid of the funds of the Kumara Fire Brigade, was held in the Memorial Hall on Friday evening, and in point of attendance, was one of the most successful functions ever held in Kumara. Dancing w r as kept up until 3 a.m., when the gathering dispersed. The result should prove highly satisfactory to the brigade. Mr A. B. Spiers, Mayor, motored to Christchurch on Friday, He expects to return in about a week. The funeral of the late Nicholas Rochford took place this afternoon, at the Kumara Cemetery. The Rev. Father Sew T ard officiated at the grave. Mr A. Pfaff, who w r as found dead at Moonlight, was a native of Kumara, where he resided for many years. The Rev. Father Creed (Leeston) and Mrs Kean (Christchurch), former residents of Kumara, paid a flying visit to the old tow'n on Friday last. Mr Archie Stewart left for Christchurch yesterday.
