His Majesty the King, the Prince of Wales, Mr Ramsay MacDonald, Mr Bennett, Mr Lyons, and Mr Forbes are among the notables who are sending special messages of congratulations to the “Morning Post,” London, on its fiftieth thousand issue, published todav, which is unique in newspaper annals. The 50,000 th issue is a remarkable thirty-six page paper containing an historical survey covering 160 years.

A warm tribute to the Press of New Zealand was paid by Mr P. N. Rundle, manager of the New Zealand Olympic team, when speaking at an official welcome home given by the Mayor, Mr Hislop, to-day.
Mi- Rundle said that after his experience in California, he was satisfied New Zealanders did not altogether realise what splendid newspapers they had. If it was a matter of sensational paragraphs and big headlines, the American papers were all that could be desired, but with the news of the world it was quite a different thing. 'A New Zealand paper gave more news in a day than the average American paper provided in a fortnight. An American journalist, who was shown a report of an inter-provincial Rugby match in New Zealand, expressed amazement at the vivid description given.
