MEETINGS

PLUNKET SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the Greymouth branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Society’s Rooms yesterday afternoon. In the absence of the President, Mr S. F. Dennehy, Mrs J. O’Brien was voted to the chair. There were also present: Mesdames Denton, Smith, Trott, McLean, McGlashan, Bird, Wilkinson, Iles, Mowatt, Harvey and Boyd. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Meldrum, Wilde, Greensclade, Aiderton and Barrett.

A circular was received fropi the Central Council regarding the nurses’ superannuation contributions, advising that at present, contributions are to be based on the actual salaries paid. The branches and nurses concerned are to be advised later regarding consequent readjustment of monthly contributions.

Mrs O’Brien reported having visited the Runanga Sub-Branch in July, in company with Mrs Dennehy. and that they had satisfactorily discussed Sub-Branch matters with the Runanga Committee.

It was decided to hold the first quarterly meeting on September 8, and all Sub-Branches are to be notified regarding the sending of delegates to same. As it has been decided that the provincial conference, including Westport, will be held in Christchurch, in the near future, it was left with the President to confer with the Christchurch Branch regarding the date for same.

Accounts totalling £1 13/11 w r ere passed for payment. The nurses’ report for the month was as follows: Headquarters—Visits to homes, new patients 39, old cases 98, total 137; visits to office, adults 254, babies 170, older children. 41, total 465. Outstanding—Visits to homes, new cases 8, old cases 109, total, 117; visits to office, adults 150, babies 112, older children 31, total 293.
