, [OCR OWN COUKESPONDENT.J Mins J. Booth, who has been appointed to the staff of the local school, has arrived. The only football match played in this district at the week-end was a third grade game, tor the Cocker ill Cup, between Waiuta and Mawheraiti, at Mawheraiti, Waiuta winning by 14 points to 9. The game was evenly contested throughout and some- good football was witnessed by those present. Mr. Topp was referee. The local schoolboys played a Rugby match against Ikamatua on Saturday. The match resulted in a win for Ikamatua by 15 points to nil. Better coaching and training paved the way for the Ikamatua team, and it is hoped that a. better game will result next, time these boys meet, as the local boys are in solid training. Mr. E. F. Byrne was referee. The final match of the first round of the Humphrey Cup hockey competition was played at Blackwater on Saturday, when the Warriors defeated Reefton High School by 3 goals to 1, after a. good even game.
