FARMERS’ UNION
CONFERENCE DECISIONS. [PEB PEESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, July 8. The Farmers’ Union ‘conference adopted the following remit without discussion: That exchange on a national basis is the property of the exporter or importer, and as such should be beyond the right of the Government to interfere with; also that exports should not be commandeered, unless in such a state of normal necessity that all services and property are taken over by the natidn. A novel proposal was contained in the following remit moved by Mr T. Currie (Wanganui)-: That this conference is of opinion that the liability of mortgagors or tenants to their mortgagees or landlords, should be in the exact ratio to current market value Ox produce and stock, or both, for the time being. It was agreed to refer it to the executive. Another remit urged the Government to consider ways and means of securing farmers’ equities.
