Nearly a ton of gold has now been salved by the “Artiglios” divers from the sunken liner “Egypt.” The average value of each shot of the grab is about £50,000. There are six shots each hour. The salvage work continues steadily all day long in the port end of the bullion room. The apparatus has worked without a hitch. The best single haul was seventeen bars of gold, worth nearly £lOO each. SALVAGE SHIP ARRESTED. (Recd. June 27, 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 26. The Artiglio carrying about £lBO,OOO worth of gold bullion, was arrested on arrival at Plymouth, under instructions from Captain Garli, Admiralty Marshal, as the result of a claim. The warrant was nailed to the mast and the holds sealed. A special train was in readiness to convey the bullion to London. Lloyds are negotiating with the Admiralty Marshal, hoping that their bond will be accepted, enabling the gold’s removal to London to-morrow, where it will be formally guarded until released. The captain' of the ship says that nearly a million sterling worth of bullion is still in the Egypt.
