MOTORING MISHAPS

— — A FATAL COLLISION. [PEB press association.] CHIIISTCHURCH, June 26. Joseph Prendeville, a iabburet, aged ; 32, of Waikari. was killed in a motor accident on the Main Waikari-Hawar-deh Road parly this morning. He was driving a car in which there were four other passengers, when he collided with the hand railing of a small bridge over the Waikari Creek Part of the bridge construction pierced the front of the car, and Prendeville was killed instantly, receiving extensive injuries to the chest. The other passengers were not ihjured.

KILLED BY CAR.

AUCKLAND, June 26.

Fatal injuries Werd received by John Mclntyre, aged 55, of Dominion Road, when he was knocked down by a motor car in Dominion Road shortly before 11 last evening. A constable heard a shout aud saw the man lying near the tramlines. He was admitted to the hospital, with injuries tb his head and a fractured jaw. He died this afternoon.

The police subsequently arrested the driver of the car on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car. He was admitted to bail in £5O. Mclntyre arrived in Auckland a few months ago. He was married, and had one child, aged 11 years. He was a labourer.

ACCUSEb IN COURT.

AUCKLAND, . June 27.

George Washington Little, 31, civil servant, was to-day, remanded on bail to appear oii July 11, on charges of being intoxicated while in charge o<’ a car, and negligently driving a car, causing the death of John Mclntyre, 55, labourer, on Saturday night. The Magistrate made it a condition of bail that accused should not drive a car .
