REEFTON NOTES

[OVR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, April 8. Mr. and Mrs G. Cross, of Christchurch, have been visiting Reefton. Mr. O’Malley, who was for some time acting-Stationmaster at Reefton, is here oii a short visit. On Tuesday afternoon an accident occurred on the Reefton side of the Saddle Hill. A car proceeding .to Reefton and coming round a sharp bend on a downward slope, the driver noticed a locomotive approaching the crossing. Being unable to pull up in the short space at his disposal, he turned the car into the bank. The machine overturned, but fortunately no one was hurt. Assistance had to be obtained from Reefton to right the car which was damaged very little.
