The Kalingo is due from Gisborne on Sunday morning, with general cargo, to load timber for Melbourne and Adelaide. The Kanna is due with general cargo, ( from Auckland, on Monday. Tho Kaimai sailed last evening with coal for Wellington, Napier and Gisborne.

KETCH’S VOYAGE. WELLINGTON, April 8. The ketch Water Lily, which several Christchurch young men have bought and pi’epared for an overseas cruise, left for Auckland this morning. CANADIAN GOVT. SHIPS OTTAWA, April 7. Propositions have been received from private companies to take over the New Zealand and West Indies services of the Canadian Government merchant marine, so the Minister of Railways told the House, in coffimittee on railways and shipping. Several of these proposals were from companies largely American. This created a somewhat difficult situation for the Government. For that reason, the whole question of disposing of the Government fleet was still sub judice, but would have to be decided this year.
