SNOWY RIVER SLUICING CO.
[TO THE EDITOB.] Sir, —A shareholder has kindly forwarded me the issue of your paper' in which appears a letter over the signature of E. A. Lemon. The only charitable thing to say about the writer is that he is dissatisfied in being shut out of this valuable enterprise. I ignore Mr Lemon’s crude attempt to question the veracity of those estimable and highly experienced gentlemen who vouch for the values obtainable in the Snowy River claim. The value of £7 8/5 per yard was vouched for by the late Mr Nicholas Lawn and I leave to your readers to decide between the relative merits of an opinion given by a mining expert and one given by Mr Lemon. There is no doubt at all about the tremendous value of the areas this Company has been so fortunate to acquire. That it is virgin gold country and has not been worked before, is solely due to the fact that the cost of bringing the water to •he sluicing nozzles has been too great for the individual and because the freehold for the tailings could not hitherto be purchased. Both of these definite obstacles have now been overcome in the formation of the Company, and in the purchase of the rights to deposit the tailings on the freehold. The ascertained valuer? are beyond question, and any of your readers will be very welcome to in •>pect the gold areas for themselves. —Yours etc., OSCAR W. B. ANDERSON, Secretary to the Company.
