GOLF

N.S.W. CHAMPIONSHIP. [by CABLE PBESS ASSN. COPYBIGHT.] SYDNEY, November 15. The professional golf title of New South Wales went to T. E. Howard, who defeated Don Spence 13 up and 11 to play. At the end of a phenomenal morning round of 67, Howard was eight up, and, although Spence made a game fight in the afternoon, he was outplayed. Howard seldom made a mistake, and when the match was finished, he had an average of four under fours for the day. His score was a record for the final of any Australian championship. Howard, who is 43 years old, won the open championship of Australia in 1923, and the professional championship in 1925. Other notable victories of his include the amateur championship of New South Wales in 1919-21. Tie turned professional in 1921.
