BUSHMEN MAKE SEARCH. .SYDNEY, November 16. Two hundred bushmen from all parts of the district assembled at Bourke at daylight, and began a search for the Comunists. All the latter, however, had disappeared. The search continues in a widening area. CANADIAN CLEAN-UP VANCOUVER, November 13. The sentences passed on the Communists promise to produce a widespread clean-up of Reds throughout the Dominion. Other provinces, regarding the way as being cleared by the Ontario prosecutions, are considering steps to suppress Communist agitators. The Mayor of Winnipeg (Mr. Ralph Webb) announces that he has requested the Manitoba Government to enact more stringent police regulations against the Reds in the next session of the Legislature. The Attorney-General of British Columbia (Mr. Pooley) declares that the outcome of the proceedings in Ontario strengthens the hands of the provincial and municipal authorities to prevent Red agitators provoking strikes and demonstrations.
STRIPPED AND LASHED. (Received November 16, 10 a.m.) VANCOUVER, November 15. Five supposed Communists, living In the Pontiac district, Michigan, were kidnapped from their homes at midnight by vigilantes, taken to the Baseball Park, stripped and lashed by whips. The captors included uniformed men, but the police deny knowledge of the incident.
