FRENCH UNEMPLOYMENT
NO INSURANCE SCHEME. [BY CABLE—PHESB ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] (Received November 14, 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, November 13. The Chamber has re-assembled under the shadow of unemployment. The Socialist. M. Blum, demanded the establishment of an unemployment insurance fund. M. Laval replied that the Government had in no way failed to recognise the country’s economic crisis, but was entirely opposed to an insurance fund, which /was largely the cause of the crises from which Germany and England were suffering. M. Laval informed the Foreign Affairs Committee that Mr Hoover and himself, after examination of the European situation, agreed to seek a meeting of the Consultative Committee provided in the Young Plan. The report from that body might enable a new arrangement to be considered. The report that an understanding has been reached between France and Germany is premature, but the negotiations continue to be favourable.
