U.S.A. GOLD STOCKS. The steamer “Farnworth” arrived here from Churchill on Thursday loaded with the first shipment of grain out of Canada’s new port in Hudson Bay. ARCTIC CASTAWAYS. ■ OTTAWA, September 11. The Canadian Government steamer “Beothic,” which annually carries 'supplies to the far northern outposts in the Arctic Circle, rescued four Scottish castaways who had been marooned for many months on the shores of Frobisher Bay, in Baffin Land. The motor ketch of the castaways was dashed to pieces on the coast. The men are; from Peterhead in Scotland. BRITANNIA BANK LONDON, September 10. News of the registration of the new Britannia Bank in Sydney, has surprised most London people, who are in touch with Australian affairs, some of whom are asking for details of» the aspect referring to British backing. The Australian Press Association, however, has found at least one highplaced Australian politician to whom the report was no surprise. He is of the opinion that it may be the first part of a British financial scheme to assist Australia.

' Professor Ahlmann and his party have returned aboard the Quest after visiting Foyn Island, where the Dutch engineer, Van Dongen, and Captain Sora were temporarily marooned during the search for General Nobile, says the Stockholm correspondent of “The Times.”
Professor Ahlmann recovered a tent, stove, flask, camera, watch in’going order, rope and jjpcket book containing Italian and Swedish bank notes, but found no traces of the missing members of the Nobile exploration party.
