MEETINGS
COBDEN SCHOOL COMMITTEE The Cobden School Committee held its monthly meeting last evening; present: —Messrs J. Mead (Chairman), Brailsford (secretary), Williams, Mettrick, Jamieson, A. Turley and Rev. W. Beaumont. The Cobden Fire Brigade forwarded rent due, and asked for a donation. - The Canterbury Education Board wrote notifying that the Board approved of suggested ground improvements. Considerable discussion took place on this question, and it was decided that the whole committee inspect the ground before coming to a decision. The use of the gymnasium was granted to the Schools’ Football Association for a children’s concert. Mr. Beaumont reported on behalf of the visiting committee. The matter of the draughty door in S.l. room was referred to the secretary. Other small requirements were referred to Messrs. Williams and Mettrick. The secretary was instructed to report to the overseer that the outside tank supplying the hot -water service was in need of replacement. The notice of motion “that the motion regarding charges for gymnasium be rescinded” was carried.
