SOCCER FOOTBALL

W.F.A. MEETING. The W.F.A. held the weekly meeting last evening; present: Mr J. Sharpe (President), Messrs Sharpb, Robson, Flood, A’irey (Secretary). The following fixtures were arranged: — Senior: Cobden v. Runanga at Cobden, referee Mi’ A. Hamill; Dobson v. Greymouth, at Dobson, referee Mr C. Hogg (Blackball); Rewanui v. Taylorville at Rewanui, referee Mr S. Hewison. To start at 3 p.m. Third Grade: —Rewanui v. Marist at Dunollie, referee Mr D. Barnes; Greymouth v. Technical at Cobden, re feree, Mr Brailsford. To start at 1.30 p.m. Balance sheets were received from Greymouth and'Cobden and were ac cepted as satisfactory. These balance sheets have to be forwarded to the New Zealand Council. Messrs Hewison and Brailsford were placed on the official list of referees.

The Buller Association was instruct ed to forward their challenge for the Peter Dawson Cup to the New Zea land Council.

Westland asked Baller for the first Saturday available at Westport in a game for the Emms Shield. Cobden and Dobson were given per mission to play Denniston in a friendly match as long as they do not interfere with competition fixtures.

The fixture list drawn up was approved. The committee instructed Messrs Smythe and Graham to draw up the third grade fixtures. It was decided that the Management Committee bring before the delegates the methods of the clubs in forwarding the gate percentage ,to the Centre, The “Wee Mac. Cup” is to go to the winner of a four round competition. A five-a-side third grade competition will take place later, and a noted Soccerite will donate the medals. Runanga A and Cobden B teams met played yesterday afternoon when the RuhangaA and Cobden B teams met in in the bantam grade at Dunollie. The small lads showed keenness and promise, particularly by the Runanga forwards. The match ended in a win. for Runanga by seven goals to nil, the scorers being Clay (4), Jen. kinson 2, and Duggan. For Runanga Clay and Jenkinson (forwards) and Malpass and Kyle (backs) P well, while Mclntyre (forward) and Forsyth and Smith (backs) did be«t for Cobden. N.Z. COUNCIL DECISIONS. WELLINGTON, May 5. At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association, tonight, it was reported that the art union had resulted in £6700 each to the Football Association and the Ne>> Zealand Cricket Association. A subcommittee was set up to consider the investment of the money. A .gold watch was presented to the chairman, Mr F. Campbell, as appreciation of -his strenuous work in carrying the art union to a successful issue. The New Zealand Cricket Council had already sent Mr' Campbell a silver tea service in recognition of. his services.

The Council agreed to assist towards the travelling expenses in the semi-final and final of the Chatham Cup up to £lOO pro rata. Contributions towards the F.A. Cup and Brown Shield are to be considered later. £5O was allocated for school footballs throughout the Dominion. The paying of expenses of delegates to the general meeting of the Association is to be considered shortly. £2O was granted to each primary schools’ tournament in the North and South Islands. The Canterbury Association reported a Marist player was suspended for one playing Saturday for misconduct in the Marist Old Boys’ match. This was referred back for a copy of the evidence. £lO was granted to the New Zealand Referees’ Association. Permission was granted for matches Wellington v. Canterbury, at Wellington, June 3, and Westland v. Buller, for the Emm Shield. The date for the Chatham Cup entries was extended to May 18. Auckland has been asked to fix another date for the Wellington challenge for the F.A. trophy.
